PURPOSE
Following up on our creative consultation, we decided to conduct a more focused design workshop with two main objectives:
Generate a design concept to "define" each of the different school areas.
Understand their grasp of the site and territory according to basic zoning of the proposal.
STRATEGY
The objectives had to be achieved by the school’s community. To achieve a richer approach, we formed different delegations of four participants: staff, teachers, parents, and students.
They were asked to think of creative ideas using a single word to define each school. The final winner by consensus was:
Kindergarten - 1st Grade = Seed (first steps and memories)
Primary = Energy (highly energetic individuals)
Middle School = Transformation (the age of change)
High School = Flight (out into the open world)
The second exercise involved broad sketching and doodling zoning, intentions, and interactions, complemented by ideas on post-its. The result was superimposed and greatly informed the vision of the community. In order for this design to be useful, we gave the participants some of the design constraints regarding zoning and functionality.
